I Can Haz Logo?
After a year long hiatus (A.K.A. payin the bills), CGP is coming back, and we even have a new look. MoveableType killed itself so the blog’s on Wordpress now. There’s a new design, and a kick-ass new logo thanks to BeskOne at BigRedSquirrel. All the old posts from the old site have been imported but comments didnt make it. Buy Me Kraftwerk’s Prototype Vocoder
Musicthing pointed out this awesome eBay auction.
“The mother of all transistorized vocoders, prototype of early 70´s custom built for german electronic duo of that period:
documented by back cover photo of KW’s album “Ralf & Florian” and in some part in the artwork on inside sleeve.
The device was used for two studio productions, title “Ananas Symphonie” including synthetic vocals and rhythm track in conjunction with lapsteel guitar and rhythm machine , as well for “Kristallo” with rhythm machine and EMS-Synth.
Later used to sound the KW’s intro for “Autobahn”
The vocoder contains 12 analysis and synthesis filter channels, 2 compressors for speech or carrier signal and excitation signal inputs, voiced /unvoiced detector and switch board for filter-matrix.
It was conceived , built and constructed by electronic engineers in the area of Physikalisch-Technische BundesAnstalt (PTB) Braunschweig, Dipl.Ing P.Leunig and Dipl.Ing. K.Obermayer.
Later the well known german music studio engineering and supplier company R.Barth K.G.,Hamburg, Germany, boiled down the know-how gained from this project into so called MUSICODER which was produced in small quantities. “

Theif Caught by WebCam
After getting robbed once, this crafty Britt setup a webcam with motion detection software, and caught the thief when he returned to rob the guy again. The thief took the PC, but since the images were being uploaded online, police were able to use the photo’s to prosecute and convict the criminal.
“This man’s name is Ben Park. He broke in to my flat in the South of Cambridge on Friday 4th February 2005. I had a video camera with motion detection software set up on my computer. It captured these images of him.
The police identified him from the photos, and on 15th February 2005, he was sentenced to 11 months in prison by Cambridge Magistrates’ Court. The police tell me that he is a career burglar, and has been in prison for burglary twice before. He should have been dealt with by the Crown Court, and received a much longer sentence. There is something very wrong with a justice system that permits a repeat offender like this to get away with such a light sentence. “

Rick James is Dead Biatch
Superfreak Rick James is dead at age 56. No autopsy has yet been performed but his publicist is claiming natural causes. WHAT?!@# Decades of drug abuse, women abuse (including burning a woman’s genitals with a crack pipe), and living the life of a superfreak is hardley natural. Dave Chappelle has yet to comment.
